Hello! My name is David and I'm a 27 year old guy originally from the sunny coastal town of Lymington in Hampshire. Son to Lynette and Paul, Baby Brother to Paul Jnr. And surrogate uncle to a whole host of teddy bears. This isn't as bizarre as it sounds...ok it is....you can find out more here: www.ljbears.co.uk). I finished my A levels in Performing Arts, Theatre Studies and Psychology and promptly put them to good use by becoming....a barman. Starting part time in a wonderful coaching inn called The Angel (www.roomattheinn.info) I applied my overwhelming talents to the hospitality industry. Yes, I was serving nuts (in both senses), pulling pints and occasionally having them thrown over me as well. Along with this I was manning reception, painting corridors, writing rotas and occasionally washing dishes too. Aside from the psychological damage inherently obvious in the writing of this website, this all led to a good career, some fantastic experiences and eventually a post as deputy general manager. I was fortunate enough to be sent on a fantastic number of courses with Eldridge Pope including the British Institute of Inkeeping's (BII's) Profitable Business Portfolio. This is a fantastic course that I highly recommend and includes loads of sections including Time Management, Stock Control, Marketing and P&L Accounts. You can find links to the BII under my recommended links section. 9 years on from the delights of my youth and officially half way to dead, I moved to the bright lights of London and took up a position as a General Manager for a restaurant group called Leon (www.leonrestaurants.co.uk). I joined Leon when it was still a relatively young Company and have watched as it has grown from 4 sites to 8, becoming the Companies first 'cluster manager' and running two sites on The Strand. I have recently moved to Amano Cafes Ltd. (www.amanocafe.com) As general manager of their Bankside store. In between work and the odd night out on the town I develop and manage this site; BARventure. I believe I have filled a gap in the market between inexperience hospitality operators and expensive business consultants. Often all that is required to make a pub, bar, coffee shop or similar business profitable is a fresh pair of eyes and BARventure helps provide that. The articles and forms available for you to use have been designed to get your creative juices flowing without the need to spend additional money on courses or consultants. Almost a decade of experience has gone in to this website and it is continually being updated, developed and modified to better suit your needs so please get in touch if there is something specific you would like to see appear. I will do my best to make it happen. I plan on opening the BARventure Bar in central London by the time I am 30 whilst adding to the ever so small profits of the banks (what's £38 Billion between friends?) So, I hope you make use of the information on this site and appreciate my 'honesty policy' so much that you return one day and click on my little white 'donate' button to your left. Anything will help from 1p to £100.00 or more! It'll all go towards keeping BARventure free for other people just like you as well helping me towards opening the Barventure Bar. Thank you to all of you who have donated so far, especially those of you who have donated for each form you have used. I'm really glad that you find the site useful and hope you will continue to head back and make use of our resources. David
